Travel & accommodation

Insiders know that because El Hierro is not directly accessible and the airport and port are small, there is no mass tourism here. This means no hotel castles, but cosy apartments and rustic country cottages.

The best way to find accommodation is via the usual platforms such as AIRBNB. If you can’t find anything, contact us directly. Maybe we can help you with contacts.

If you are heading for Gran Canaria, choose your flight so that you can fly on to El Hierro on the same day with Binter www.bintercanarias.com .

If you are heading for Tenerife, then also choose your onward flight so that you can travel on the same day with Binter www.bintercanarias.com come to El Hierro. Attention!!! International flights usually land at Tenerife South Airport. The onward flight, however, is from Tenerife North Airport!!!

Please allow 3 hours for the transfer. There are regular direct buses (1 hour journey time). A rental car one-way can sometimes be worthwhile for two people.

Alternatively, you can take the ferry, which is usually just as quick. The ferry port in Los Cristianos is only about 15 minutes away from South Airport. Take a bus or cab if time is a little shorter. Book a ferry at https://www.fredolsen.es/en or   www.navieraarmas.com.
