Insiders already know: Since you can’t reach El Hierro directly, and since the airport and port are small, there are no mass crowds of tourists. That means there aren’t large scale hotels but cozy apartments and rustic cottages.
Please contact me directly about accommodations. We have numerous contacts to apartments and cottages in all price ranges:

There are flights available to Gran Canaria or Tenerife (from all major cities) for less than €100 with these carriers:
www.ryanair.com, www.norwegian.com, www.condor.com,
You can also check Tuifly, Air Berlin, Iberia or Vueling for special offers.
If you head for Gran Canaria, then choose your flight so you can continue to fly with Binter www.bintercanarias.com on the same day.
If you head to Tenerife, then choose your connecting flight so that you get to El Hierro with Binter www.bintercanarias.com on the same day.
Important note: International flights typically arrive at Tenerife South Airport. However, the connecting flight departs from Tenerife North Airport.
Please allow 3 hours for connecting flights. There are direct busses that run regularly (1 hour travel time). If you’re traveling with a group, a one-way rental car might be a good idea.
Alternatively, taking the ferry is usually just as fast. The ferry port of Los Christianos is only 15 minutes away from the southern airport. Take a bus or–if time is short— a taxi. You can book a ride on the ferry at www.navieraarmas.com.
