Freediving El Hierro is the first freediving centre on the island. Founded by me, Karsten Mohr, certified Freediving Instructor Trainer of the Apnea-Diving World Association AIDA. This is the highest level of instructor and enables me to train other freediving instructors myself.
You can learn a lot at Freediving El Hierro about truly free freediving as a relaxing sport and a relaxed experience in the underwater world.
Freediving also has a competitive component. It is fun to train and also to know your limits. But at Freediving El Hierro we stay on the fascinating experience side of the sport.
This means that we can have fun together in courses at depths of up to 50 metres.
For those who want to get into competitive diving after that, I develop tailor-made plans. I had the luck and pleasure to be trained exclusively by international top divers and world class people. I take great pleasure in sharing my experience in such a way that you have an excellent basis to choose your own path afterwards: Relaxed to indulge in a demanding fascinating water sport or with top prerequisites to dive deeper into the competitive sport.
You can fully rely on my expertise. As an AIDA World Championship participant and 2-time CMAS Master World Champion 2022 and master world record holder, I am very happy to share my experience.
I worked for over 20 years in the snow, surf and skate industry as a business engineer and international manager. Long before I started board sliding, freediving captivated me. Over time, I perfected my “diving” and today have a huge joy in passing on my knowledge and skills
I wrote my thesis for the AIDA freedive instructor formation on another topic that I find equally fascinating: meditation and freediving – obviously fitting together very well. Go deeper inside and outside.

Over time, I perfected my “diving” and today have a huge joy in passing on my knowledge and skills. I wrote my final thesis to become an AIDA freedive instructor on another topic that fascinates me very much: Meditation and Freediving. Which, of course, fits together perfectly. Go Deeper Inside and Outside.
Freediving for me is actually a meditative experience with a lot of fun and joy. Meditation is not serious! The more relaxed you are, and the more your brain is switched off, the finer each dive into weightlessness works. Pure joy. Fascinating every single time.
I am not alone!!!
As an Instructor Trainer, I am particularly pleased that some of the instructors I work with here on El Hierro were trained by me over many years. Quality matters.
